Ilya is a Venture Partner at Xfund.  He is a co-founder and served as President of Segment, the company that created the Customer Data Platform category. Ilya scaled Segment’s product from an open source library in 2012 to a $3.2 billion acquisition by Twilio in 2020. Today, Ilya is an angel investor, focusing on Seed and Series A-stage climate tech and healthcare startups. He’s deeply passionate about medical diagnostics, functional medicine, autoimmunity, and the gut microbiota. Ilya took a leave of absence from MIT in order to co-found Segment, when he met Patrick (who became the company’s first venture investor). We are thrilled to welcome Ilya back to the fold.
