President, Wharton Entrepreneurship Club

Alex Liu is a technical founder and product leader with deep experience building and scaling AI and SaaS platforms from zero to growth. He is currently pursuing a joint MBA at The Wharton School and an MPA at Harvard Kennedy School, where he focuses on the intersection of technology, entrepreneurship, and public-sector impact.

Previously, Alex was Co-Founder and CTO of Avogadro, where he led product architecture and engineering, raised over $1M in venture funding, and built a globally distributed engineering team to deliver enterprise SaaS tools based on direct customer discovery. His work spanned full-stack development, cloud infrastructure, and product design, with a strong emphasis on rapid iteration and real-world usability.

Earlier in his career, Alex was one of the earliest engineers at DoorDash, joining as engineer #20 and later promoted to Senior Software Engineer. He helped found multiple internal startups including DoorDash Drive (B2B catering), operational efficiency teams, and international expansion initiatives. His contributions included launching Australia and Germany markets, building compliance systems for alcohol delivery, inventing DoorDash’s first patent related to location tracking, and architecting automation that saved over $20M annually in support costs.

Alex began building in AI and machine learning at Rice University, where he earned a B.S. in Computer Science with a concentration in AI/ML, graduating cum laude with a 3.9 GPA and multiple hackathon awards.
